Campaigning with Battery and Chonga Tied to Bicycle
During those days, Teklal Mahto’s nephew, Chandranath Bhai Patel, shared that his uncle would set out for campaigning with a battery on the bicycle’s carrier and a chonga tied to the handle. He would park his bicycle and deliver speeches using a microphone, often staying away from home for several days. In the evenings, he would stop in the same village to spend the night and then continue the campaign from there the next day.

Five-Time MLA
Chandranath Bhai Patel mentioned that Uncle Teklal Mahto contested as an independent in 1977 and 1980 but lost both times. However, he successfully represented the Mandi Assembly in 1985, 1990, 1995, and 2000 consecutively. After that, he served as the MP for the Giridih Lok Sabha constituency from 2005 to 2009.
